Our Story

Keith and I moved to Sealy, Texas in 2003 and began raising Boer goats, specializing in quality goats for county fair exhibitors as well as the commercial meat market.  We enjoyed helping young exhibitors achieve their goals and proudly operated our goat business until 2016.

In 2017, we followed a new dream and purchased our first AQHA broodmare, Diva, marking the beginning of the Thomas Family Ranch's Quarter Horse breeding program.  Soon afterward, Ruth joined the ranch already in foal, and in 2018 we added Bandit and Anne to our growing herd.  The following spring, all four mares welcomed healthy foals, confirming that we were on the right path.

Like many small breeding operations, we've experienced our share of challenges- from navigating the uncertainties of COVID-19 to the everyday ups and downs of raising horses.  We certainly didn't start as experienced horse breeders.  Nearly everything we've learned has come through hard work, countless hours of research, advice from generous mentors, and plenty of trial and error.  Every lesson has helped shape our program and every success has made the journey worthwhile.
